Acquired in 2005. Watch for the
sign on the north side of Sherburne Rd. Parking is
available near the sign. Walking through the woods on the
Merriam area makes you think you are very far from
civilization. There is a well marked trail to the left as
you enter the woods by the path near the large sign on
Sherburne Rd. The trail is marked by yellow paint on trees.
Slopes on the trail are steep in parts and the trail runs
through some seasonally wet areas. The trail is a loop that
takes hikers through the property, past ponds, and back to
the start. Allow about one hour for the whole loop. Property
boundaries are marked by red blazes on trees. Hunting is
permitted. This area was named to memorialize the late Fred
Merriam. |
