Join the Fun!!!

Thank you for your interest in Pelham Community Girl Scouts!!! If a girl in your life is looking to join, please fill out the form below. If you would like to volunteer as a leader, co-leader, etc., please go to the Adult Volunteer Form by clicking on the BLUE STAR next to "Adult Opportunities"!

Girl Scouting is broken down by age groups. This allows the girls to try age appropriate activities with girls with similar interests and abilities.

DAISY level is for 5 and 6 year olds (kindergarten and first grade): Girls begin to learn the Girl Scout Promise and the Law by doing activities which represent different phrases from the Girl Scout Law. They earn the Daisy Blue Center and then color petals to create a completed "Daisy" which is worn on the front of the blue smock.
Red = "Courageous and Strong"
Spring Green = "Considerate and Caring"
Orange = "Responsible for What I Say and Do"
Green = "Use Resources Wisely"
Rose = "Make the World a Better Place"
Light Blue = "Honest and Fair"
Yellow = "Friendly and Helpful"
Violet = "Be a Sister to Every Girl Scout"
Magenta = "Respect Authority"
Purple = "Respect Myself and Others"

They can also earn "patches" which are worn on the back of the smock when they are involved in various troop and community activities. Daisy Girl Scouts do not do overnight activities or participate in the selling of Cookies. It is a beginning for them to see the fun of learning and playing with other girls their age as part of a small troop and the larger Girl Scout Community.

BROWNIE level is for 7 and 8 year olds (2nd and 3rd grade):
Girls learn more about the Promise and the Law, can become involved in overnight camping, selling Cookies and Calendars. They begin to have some decision making freedom as to what and how they will spend their time and money they earn by doing fund raisers. At this level they can earn "Try-Its" which teach the girls about being better citizens, nature, art, music, science, safety and a variety of other subjects. They work together as a troop and learn cooperation and teamwork. They also earn "patches" for the back of the vest for involvement in troop and community activities.

JUNIOR level is for 9 and 10 year olds (4th and 5th grade):
Girls should now be well versed in what Girl Scouting is all about. They continue to be involved in camping, fund raising and now begin to work on their own per their individual interests on various types of badges. Similar to the Try-Its, but more in depth with more requirements for earning them. Girls are now occasionally asked to help out with the Brownie and Daisy levels during community events. Also available to be earned are Awards such as the Junior Aide Award, Sign of the Rainbow, Sign of the Sun, Sign of the World and Sign of the Star, Junior Leadership Pin and the Bronze Award Pin. Each of these are earned individually by meeting a list of requirements. The Bronze Award is the highest Award which can be earned in Juniors.

CADETTE level is for 11, 12 and 13 year olds (6th, 7th and 8th grade): Girls are learning about the interest projects. These are more community service related than the badges in other levels.  They discover that community service should always be a part of their life. The Silver Award is the highest Award which can be earned in Cadettes.

SENIOR level is for 14 and 15 year olds (9th and 10th grade) And...

  AMBASSADORS level is for 16, 17 and 18 year olds (11th and 12th grade): These older girls are now able to become more and more independent in what they earn and do. They are able to earn Interest Project Awards as well as a number of specific awards which show the girls have learned leadership qualities, are involved in their community by service projects, begun to explore career opportunities and are overall well rounded, confident, strong young women ready to face the world of adulthood that awaits them.

The Gold Award is the highest Award in all of Girl Scouting and it can be earned in Seniors and Ambassadors.
