What do we know about today's world of work experiences?

EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES!

The New Hampshire Department of Education has developed career clusters and Pathways to help students look at their future and to continue their education beyond high school.  PHS offers both Pathways and Running Start Programs

PHS participates in the NH Project Running Start, a unique higher education initiative for high school students. The Running Start Program allows current high school students to enroll in selected Community College Systems of NH courses while completing their high school program.  Running Start classes are taught at the high school during the day by PHS teachers who have a Masters in that discipline and who meet or exceed the hiring qualifications for all CCSNH faculty.

The designated courses meet college level standards established by the New Hampshire Community College System and cost $100.00 per course, which is  paid directly to the college. This important partnership between post secondary and secondary schools promotes access to higher education while lowering the high costs associated with obtaining a college education.

The Running Start Program has significant advantages:

bullet

Reduces tuition cost ($100 per course registration)

bullet

Prepares students to transition from high school to college

bullet

Increases academic motivation at the high school and college level

bullet

Offers dual credit - meets high school requirements and
receives college credit as well

bullet

Reduces time to complete higher education requirements

bullet

Encourages more young learners to seek a higher education

bullet

Provides access to  resources while in high school

Students who successfully complete CCSNH courses through Project Running Start can request an official transcript from the college. CCSNH courses taken through Running Start may be accepted at other colleges and universities. You should check with the transfer - receiving school for specifics.
