Notice to 8th Grade Students and Their Parents

The close of the 2007/08 school year is quickly approaching. With the end of the year come many activities for our 8th grade students. The following listing of up-coming events will assist you in planning your personal calendar:

Friday, June 6 First Graduation Practice

Tuesday, June 10 Final Exams – 8:45 – 11:00

Wednesday, June 11 Final Exams – 8:45 – 11:00

Thursday, June 12 - Final Exams – 8:45 – 11:00

Graduation Practice – 12:00 noon – 1:50 p.m. The first graduation practice will take place in the afternoon. Students will be lined up according to their height; therefore, they should bring the shoes they will be wearing for graduation (or similar ones) with them.

Friday, June 13 – Make up Exams

Graduation Practice – 11:40 – 1:45

Book bills for lost books issued to students

All financial obligations must be paid before leaving today in order to participate in the Water Country Field Trip. (Lost books, cafeteria, Library).

Monday, June 16 – Water Country – This is the date for the annual class trip for graduating 8th graders. They will be going to Water Country in Portsmouth, NH.

Grade 8 Awards (a.m.) 8:00-8:30

Jr. National Honor Society Inductions 9:00 - 10:00 a.m. (Gr. 7)

Award Ceremony – Grade 6 and 7 10:30 – 11:30

Gr. 8 Yearbooks distributed/Locker cleanout 9:00 a.m.

Final graduation practice - 12:00 – 1:50 (Mandatory)

Graduation Dinner Dance - In the evening, the traditional dinner dance will be held. The cost for this dance is $10.00 per student – dinner and dancing in our school cafeteria. Punch and hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6:00 P.M. followed by dinner at 6:30 P.M. This will be followed by the traditional 8th grade dance at 7:30 P.M. in the cafeteria. An RSVP form is attached. Please return this form with $10.00 to confirm attendance at this dinner/dance. The dance will conclude at 9:30 pm and students must be picked up promptly at 9:30 pm. Students may choose to attend either or both activities. Appropriate dress is required. Since this is the final social – as a class – for these students, guests are not allowed. Please remember, this is not a prom; it is simply a semi-formal dinner/dance

Move-up day

PMS Graduation

The end-of-year graduation program will be held at 6:30 P.M. Students must be at school no later than 6:00 P.M. Weather permitting, this program will be held outside; it will last about one hour. During the program, certificates will be distributed as well as local civic awards. It is appropriate for an occasion where the accomplishments of our students are recognized that proper attire be expected. Therefore, the minimum that will be expected is: shirts, ties, and dress shoes for boys; dresses and dress shoes for girls.

 

Grade 8 reports cards must be picked up in your child’s homeroom following graduation.
