Basement Ecstasy

Last night we danced
In my basement
Under a dazzling sky
That was really just wooden beams
And cobwebs
Music whispered softly
From the tiny stereo
Beckoning us to follow it
To a place made only for us
Our pajamas caressed each other when we weren't looking
Baggy sweatshirts and pants that were too long for the both of us
But we both felt beautiful then
Dirt and cold crunched beneath our bare feet but we didn't notice
Nor did we care
Kisses rained down upon my lips
So soft it felt as if angels had placed them there
We reached ecstasy without either of us realizing it
The world was in my basement that night.
