Service was held at Veteran's Memorial Park at 9:00
a.m. with joint VFW/American Legion riffle squad salute.
Mustered at the Village Green for parade to Gibson Cemetery where Elaine
Hohmann was the master of ceremonies. World War II veterans were
asked to come up and sit on their service benches, the crowed was asked to
give names of deceased veterans to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary members and
those names as well as the names of the members of each Post who died were
read out loud. The Claudia Combs Music Academy sang the National
Anthem, the Pelham High School Band played patriotic music while the
veterans, town officials, youth groups and more marched. Wreaths
were laid and after a gun salute by the joint riffle squad, the group
marched to the town center for another laying of a wreath. The event
ended at the American Legion for a town-wide picnic. Thank you to
the towns folks of Pelham for coming out to remember our Veterans.
